Completing an internship abroad is an exciting way to explore our global futures firsthand

Students generally complete international internships in one of the following ways:

  • Students that are citizens of countries outside of the U.S., have dual citizenship or otherwise have authorization to live and work in another country may complete an internship in that country. Students need to find their own internship opportunity and provide supporting documentation to the College of Global Futures career development specialist in English.
  • ASU Intern Abroad programs. We recommend considering ASU Global Education Office programs that offer internship opportunities. These programs are vetted for safety and legitimacy, assist with internship placement and visa requirements, include housing and participants are covered by international insurance as part of the program.

However, not all programs listed on the ASU Intern Abroad site are guaranteed to be approved for CGF internship credit. Please review the website and work with the CGF Career Development Specialist before committing to a study abroad internship program.

The following ASU internship programs have been approved in the past for College of Global Futures majors. However, final approval is made on a case-by-case basis. Make sure to discuss your plan with a Career Development Specialist before committing to any program.

Note that most programs have application deadlines of at least 6 months prior to the start of the program. You may need to apply as early as January for summer programs.

Any student completing an internship outside of the U.S. that is not part of an official ASU sponsored study abroad program, is required to register in the ASU International Travel Registry. There is a small fee associated with this registration which includes insurance and access to 24/7 ASU emergency response services and enables ASU to reach you in the event of an emergency – abroad or at home. The travel registration system is ASU’s official means for sharing urgent health, safety and security related information.
