Classroom Visits

The College of Global Futures is happy to visit your classroom and students either in-person or virtually!  Students will hear about how they can become changemakers through the College of Global Futures majors in sustainability, responsible innovation, global development, sustainable food systems, ocean futures and applied math in complexity sciences. The College of Global Futures helps students to build a thriving future through high impact experiences like study abroad and undergraduate research, career and internship opportunities and more.

Arizona State University’s Walton Center for Planetary Health on the Tempe campus is home to the College of Global Futures.

Visit the College of Global Futures community at the Walton Center for Planetary Health on the Tempe campus.  Meet faculty and students who can tell you more about the undergraduate majors in the Schools of Sustainability; Future of Innovation in Society; Complex Adaptive Systems; and Ocean Futures. Take a tour of our buildings and programs to learn more about programs and opportunities for Global Futures students. 

We can tailor your visit to focus on current issues such as climate resilience, emerging technology and ethics, ocean health, global development, carbon capture and other areas of interest for your students.  Let us know what you’d like to learn about. We welcome groups of 5-25 students for visits on Wednesdays or Fridays to learn how to create a just and thriving future for people and the planet.

Planetary Health Career Workshops

Learn more about planetary health careers through in-person or virtual interactive learning experiences for your students.  Planetary health careers are so important because these jobs are dedicated to improving the livelihoods and wellbeing of people and nature together. Learn from alumni about great jobs for anyone who is interested in helping our planet through science, community engagement, business, engineering, politics, conservation and other fields of study.

Visit ASU’s School of Ocean Futures in Bermuda

Every year, high school and college level students travel overseas to visit the Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS) for research and education opportunities. The beautiful location and dedicated classroom and lecture hall facilities are perfect for hands-on experiential learning.

Engage with Planetary Health Research in the Global Futures Laboratory

As one of many research centers, Laboratory for Energy Power and Solutions (LEAPS) lab works with high schools students to compete in STEM Stride, a program to train the next generation of STEM professionals to improve planetary and social resilience and tackle unknown threats to our environment.

Educator Workshops at ASU Bermuda Institute of Ocean Sciences (BIOS)

ASU’s oceanographic field station in Bermuda offers teachers, curriculum specialists and administrators opportunities to develop expertise in marine science and ocean health.  Through a residential experience, educators participate in workshops on a variety of topics including:

  • Introduction to ocean technology
  • Marine biology lab and field activities
  • Island ecology and restoration

Laboratory for Energy Power and Solutions (LEAPS)

LEAPS offers short educational programs for teachers to engage and inspire K-12 students in sustainable energy careers.  In this train-the-trainer approach, the LEAPS lab will teach you energy concepts and activities to embed into your own curriculum.
