Financial support for graduate students within the School of Sustainability

The Charles (Chuck) Redman Sustainability Graduate Fellowship was established by the Redman family and friends to honor and recognize the impact Chuck Redman has had on the field of sustainable urbanization both in the past and present. He began his academic career of over 50 years seeking to understand the rise of civilization throughout the world with his work in archaeology.

However, for the past 30 years his focus has been on developing a better understanding of modern global cities and seeking solutions to mitigate critical urban challenges in part by leading several multi-million-dollar research projects. Chuck also played an instrumental role in the establishment at ASU of the world’s first school of sustainability, serving as the institution’s first director. Throughout his career he worked closely with graduate students, advocating for student support and professional development opportunities.
